Charges filed in hit-and-run

by Sequim Gazette staff

A 27-year-old man is charged with hit-and-run and eluding police after a chase on Old Olympic Highway.

Brian Joseph Arnold allegedly fled in his vehicle from a pursuing Sheriff’s deputy before crashing through two fences and running away, leaving a trail of clothing behind him.

Deputies said an attempt was made to stop Arnold as he drove in the 7800 block of Old Olympic Highway around 9 p.m. Oct. 7. He continued driving, turning onto McComb Road and reaching speeds of about 60 mph, deputies said.

He then drove through two fences, stopped his car and ran away on foot, deputies said.

While attempting to locate Arnold, deputies found his shoes, a hat and blue jeans. Drug paraphernalia were found in the jeans, deputies said.

Arnold eventually was arrested and booked in the Clallam County jail at 11:42 p.m. Oct. 27.

He was charged with felony eluding a pursuing police vehicle, misdemeanor hit-and-run and misdemeanor use of drug paraphernalia. Arraignment is set for Nov. 4 and he remains in jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
