The Boys & Girls Clubs are planning to bring dads and daughters together for Valentine’s Day. Their first-time event on Feb. 11, the Daddy Daughter Dance, offers an all-ages DJ playing age-appropriate music, food and fun times inside the Sequim club.

Janet Gray, resource development director for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, said the event is like a mini-prom.

“A lot of towns are doing them,” she said, “And it might a be meeting a need locally.”

Dads and daughters can dance to songs like “YMCA” and do the “Chicken Dance.” Other parents or relatives, such as a grandfather or uncle, are welcome to attend.

The Torch Club, Sequim pre-teens, are preparing and serving food from their Cupid’s Cuisine as a fundraiser for their upcoming activities. Sweets and Italian sodas are offered for sale at the event, too.

Gray said club staff plan to make it an annual event. For more information, call 683-8095.
