A two-car collision at the intersection of North Fifth Avenue and Spruce Street in Sequim sent one of the vehicles into the front porch of a mobile home last night.

Patrick Young, public information officer with Clallam County Fire District 3, said responding units arrived at 201 N. Fifth Ave. at 6:07 p.m. to find a Ford F-150 pickup truck sitting where the front porch used to be located.

Eyewitness Robert Scheuerman said he was snapping scenic photos on Fifth Avenue when he saw the collision.

He said the F-150 was driving west on Spruce and a Ford Explorer was going south.

The force of the T-bone collision sent the truck across the intersection and into the front of the home, causing structural damage to the porch and front wall of the home’s living room, Young said.

Wayne Carroll was sitting in his living room at the time of the collision, but was not injured. He and his wife Glenda are able to remain in the home.

Glenda said the intersection is a tough one for vehicles to cross and this is about the fourth wreck there in recent years.

One of the two drivers was transported by Olympic Ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries; the other driver was evaluated but not treated or transported.

The Sequim Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.

Fire District 3 had two medic units, a rescue unit and a fire engine assigned to the incident. All fire units cleared the scene at 6:45 p.m. but the intersection remained closed while tow trucks removed the vehicles, Young said.
