KSQM celebrates fourth anniversary

KSQM-FM celebrates its fourth anniversary on Friday, Dec. 7, with a ceremony and open house at the station, located in the Kite Girl Plaza in Sequim.

The celebration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a ceremony which, in keeping with the historical importance of the date (the 71st anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor), will include a tribute to the military.

Recognition of the ground-breaking of the new tower and success of the recently completed Remember-ship fundraising campaign will be part of the celebration as well.

After the ceremony, the public is invited to an open house, where tours of the station will be available, as well as light refreshments. The open house continues until 4 p.m.

General manager Bob Schilling said in announcing the celebration, “We are excited to celebrate this anniversary milestone. Not many community radio stations have the kind of longevity that we have enjoyed and we attribute the success of the station to the support from our listeners and underwriters.

The ceremony and open house are an opportunity to celebrate our success with those who have made it possible.”

During the day, the station will include special programming as a salute to the military.

The anniversary also will mark the beginning of KSQM’s participation in the Toys for Tots campaign.
