Fly-Fishers host demonstration

Greywolf Fly Fishers Club invites the fly-fishing public to a free fly-casting demonstration by Don Simonson at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at the fishing pond at Carrie Blake Park in Sequim (spey casting demo, 7 p.m.). An  International Fly Fishing Federation Master Certified Fly Casting instructor, Simonson also will coach individuals on their techniques.

Forum takes up ‘missing link’

The City of Sequim hosts a public forum to discuss the “missing link” portion of the Olympic Discovery Trail (between North Blake and North Sequim avenues) at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.

Sequim doubles tennis tourney set for July 12-14

The Peninsula Tennis club hosts the annual Sequim Doubles Tennis Tournament at the Sequim High School courts from 5 p.m.-dark Friday, July 12, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, July 13-14. Cost is $15/person, all ages welcome. To sign up a team or find a partner, call Gene Turner at 457-0151 or 808-6247 by Monday night, July 8.

Donate to Elks annual sale

Sequim Elks Lodge #2642 holds its annual garage sale from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday-Saturday, July 19-20, at 143 Port Williams Road. Drop off tax-deductible donations of household items, furniture, tools, fishing gear, clothing and miscellaneous between 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays-Wednesdays, or schedule a pick-up for large items at 683-2763. The sale cannot accept mattresses or electronics.

Grier appointed to state council

Secretary of State Kim Wyman has appointed Nola Grier, United Way of Clallam County manager/internal operations manager, to the 16-member Charitable Advisory Council. The council advises the Secretary of State on training and educational needs of charitable organizations and model policies related to governance and administration of these organizations.
PT Film Festival reveals final clue
It’s the final week to guess the identity of the special guest at the 14th Annual Port Townsend Film Festival, set for Sept. 20-22.
The third and final clue: “A wool twister, everly sister/Weaving a way through life/Soft mountain ridges, singing bridges/The peace within all life/’Ow, that hurts,’ he said/’Where?’ (gently moving near)/Faintly his boyish smile/’Here and here and … here.’

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at Suncrest Village Retirement Apartments, 251 S. Fifth Ave. Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest, and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed. RSVP to 683-8491. Menus are subject to change.
