The Port Townsend Police Department is seeking witnesses to a Sims Way collision Friday evening, Aug. 30, that resulted in a motor scooter rider suffering a fractured leg.

The rider, Jayd Blue, was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. As of Saturday, the 42-year-old man from Port Townsend was recovering from surgery.

At about 9 p.m. Friday, Blue was riding westbound on Sims Way when a vehicle made a left turn from 10th Street and collided with the scooter. The driver of the vehicle drove away, leaving Blue lying injured in the road.

Bystanders stopped to help before police and East Jefferson Fire-Rescue personnel arrived.

The public’s assistance is needed to help identify the other vehicle and driver involved in this collision. Witnesses who may have been in the area of the collision are asked to call Detective Devin McBride at 360-390-8938 or contact him by e-mail at dmcbride@cityofpt.us.

Witnesses not wishing to leave their name can submit information online at www.cityofpt.us/crimetips.htm.
