State Patrol seeks witnesses to car-pedestrian fatality

Detectives from the Washington State Patrol are seeking additional witnesses to an Oct. 7 collision

The crash was at about 8:18 p.m. on US Highway 101, at 2001 E. First St. Port Angeles.

According to the state patrol, a female pedestrian, later identified as Bonita N. Bickford, 49, of Port Angeles, was crossing US Highway 101 from south to north when she was struck in the outside westbound lane by a 1988 Chevrolet Beretta, reportedly driven by Marlene T. Brand, 49, also of Port Angeles.

Bickford was wearing dark clothing and was using the assistance of a walker with a small basket attached, the state patrol said.

Detective Joi Haner is asking anyone who may have witnessed the victim crossing the roadway at any point or may have seen the actual collision, to call and speak with him. Reach Haner at 360-473-0147.
The collision is sill under investigation, but the patrol report indicates Brand is charged with vehicular homicide.
