Veterans Day, observed


• Coast Guard Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles will host the annual Veterans Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11. Gates open at 9:30 a.m. to the general public. Following the ceremony is a free barbecue at the Veterans Center, 216 S. Francis St. (next to the YMCA) beginning at noon. The barbecue and the ceremony are sponsored and paid for by the Clallam County Veterans Association. The barbecue is hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 29, Port Angeles. The public is welcome to attend. Enter the Coast Guard Station from the front gate at the end of Ediz Hook in Port Angeles starting at 9:30 a.m. Have photo ID available at the entry checkpoint.

 

• On Friday, Nov. 8, the community is invited to the Veterans Day assembly at Sequim Middle School at 8:25 a.m. in the gym.

 

• Also on Friday, Nov. 8, there will be an assembly at Greywolf Elementary at 9:30 a.m. in the gym.

 

• Two assemblies will be held at Helen Haller Elementary on Friday, Nov. 8; the first one at 1:15 p.m. and the second one at 2 p.m. in the gym.

 

Dinner for veterans
Prairie Springs Assisted Living Center will honor veterans with a complimentary dinner from 4:30-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. The meal is free to veterans, $5 for guests. RSVP by Nov. 1 to 681-3385.
