Clallam County Superior Court

Brandon J. Hensley - Hensley, 23, Sequim, had his charges dismissed without prejudice on Jan. 27, meaning they can be refiled. He had faced one count each of unlawful use of a building for drug purposes, delivery of marijuana and possession with intent to manufacture or deliver marijuana. Deputy prosecutor John Troberg told the court that the state couldn't satisfy the defense's request for discovery without more time. He asked for a dismissal until the discovery issues are resolved; then he will refile the case. According to court documents, Hensley allegedly allowed people to use his apartment to sell marijuana.

James D. Palmer - Palmer, 33, Sequim, pleaded guilty Jan. 21 to one count of possession with intent to deliver or manufacture marijuana. A second count of delivery of marijuana was dismissed. Sentencing was set for Feb. 16. According to court documents, officers allegedly found marijuana in Palmer's car and house during a search that was based on statements from another suspect.

Lauryn L. Last - Last, 17, Port Angeles, had her first-degree murder trial rescheduled to June 7. Her next court appearance is set for Feb. 26. Last was charged as an adult Jan. 7, 2009, in Clallam County Superior Court with one count of first-degree murder or, in the alternative, second-degree murder.

According to court documents, Last allegedly drowned her newborn son and disposed of the body in a trash container on Dec. 31, 2008. Defense attorneys plan to argue Last didn't know she was in labor and went into shock after giving birth.

Christine Marie Beaver - Beaver, 39, Sequim, was sentenced Jan. 21 on one count of first-degree theft, two counts of second-degree theft and nine counts of forgery. Another 13 assorted counts were dismissed. According to court records, Beaver allegedly used stolen charge cards at Sequim and Port Angeles businesses on June 10, 2009. Beaver will serve 19 months in prison and pay $1,350 in fines and court costs plus restitution to be determined. She is prohibited from coming within 1,000 feet of the businesses where she committed the thefts and their owners during the next five years.

Joshua Michael Wilson - Wilson, 26, Sequim, was sentenced Jan. 13 on one count of bail jumping. He will serve 12 months plus one day in prison, undergo a mental health evaluation while in prison, pay $1,150 in fines and court costs and obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation following release from prison and comply with recommended treatment. Because the victim couldn't be located, on Jan. 6 the prosecutor dismissed with prejudice one count each of intimidating a witness or former witness, fourth-degree assault and first-degree criminal trespass.

Robert A. Keith - Keith, 25, Sequim, was charged Jan. 22 with three counts of third-degree child molestation. According to court documents, Keith allegedly had sexual contact with a 14-year-old female on several occasions between Sept. 28-Dec. 2, 2009. His trial was set for March 1 with his next court appearance on Feb. 12. Keith is prohibited from having any contact with the victim or any child younger than 18 without adult supervision approved by the Department of Corrections. Third-degree child molestation is a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine plus restitution and assessments.

Melinda Marie Thurman - Thurman, 22, Sequim, had a Feb. 5 court hearing set on one count each of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle or premises for drug trafficking, third-degree possession of stolen property and use of drug paraphernalia plus two counts of fourth-degree assault. Bail was set at $75,000 based upon Thurman missing her Jan. 14 court appearance. According to court records, Thurman allegedly assaulted her boyfriend on two occasions between Aug. 24-Sept. 7, 2009, and during a search of her apartment, OxyContin, drug paraphernalia and a sign stolen from the Sequim Police Department were located.
