Adults joined the races last Saturday for the first Pinewood Classic Adult Pinewood Derby at Trinity United Methodist Church. Organizers saw 22 entries with Sequim’s Bruce Neilson’s car winning Best of Show and the Outlaw and Derby classes.
Rick Roque of Port Angeles tied for second in Best of Show with Anne Mullen with his car made of recycled materials modeled after an All Weather Heating & Cooling van.
Shana Scott, district executive Mt. Olympus District, said donations and entry fees support the Friends of Scouting, FOS, who support the Boy Scouts of America’s Chief Seattle Council’s camp operations, scholarships for activities, and more. She said the plan is to do more events similar to this in the future. For more on local Boy Scout events, visit www.seattlebsa.org/mt-olympus.
