Business Plan Intensive, a 12-week course designed to take an idea to a presentation-ready business plan will begin Wednesday, Jan. 2. The class will meet from 6-9 p.m. every Wednesday evening for 12 weeks in Room 206 of Lincoln Center. The cost is $395 per business (up to two people) and includes a book, workbook, materials and dinner each night._
The course is taught by certified NxLevel instructor Jim Williams, MBA, entrepreneur and business development consultant. Using an award-winning curriculum, Williams will teach students all of the components of a business plan and how to build one. Entrepreneurs who are at the idea stage or in business for many years will find practical knowledge to take their businesses to the next level.
Entrepreneurs will learn how to define their business, define their market, understand financial statements and manage money from a manager's prospective.
"We have tried to make it as accessible to entrepreneurs as possible. We know that most people are going to be coming straight from work and will be hungry. We don't them to worry about where they are going to eat or being late for class, so we provide dinner. We also understand that 12 weeks is a long commitment for anyone in business and people may have to travel during that time. We are offering two people to enroll at one price. They will be able to share the work load and cover for each other if one of them is out of town. It is perfect if they have a business partner, but aren't comfortable with paying two tuitions," said Jim Haguewood, executive director for The Incubator at Lincoln Center. "Books and materials are included in the price of tuition," added Haguewood.
Students will complete the course with a presentation-ready business plan for investors, funding sources and their working knowledge and success.
"During the course each business team will be assigned a mentor with professional knowledge and experience to assist students with their written business plan. Students also will have the opportunity for verbal coaching to assist with presentation polish," said Haguewood._
The class will conclude with "Entrepreneur Challenge," a business plan competition with $7,000 in cash prizes, sponsored by First Federal Savings & Loan and the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe.
