Sequim man dead after Carlsborg crash

The area west of Sequim saw two serious motor vehicle incidents the evening of June 28.
Officials pronounced Tedy Cook, 33, of Sequim, dead upon their arrival at a motorcycle-to-vehicle collision on the 1000 block of Carlsborg Road.
Clallam County Sheriff’s Office officials said witness statements indicate Cook had been traveling at a high rate of speed, possibly as fast as 100 mph, on the 1994 Kawasaki Ninja and crashed into the back of a passenger vehicle. Cook reportedly was not wearing a helmet and the posted speed limit is 35 mph.
Officers arrived at the scene at 9:31 p.m. after receiving the initial 9-1-1 call at 9:27 p.m. A Clallam County Sheriff’s Office traffic technician is conducting an investigation of the crash. The possible involvement of alcohol will be a part of that investigation.
“The technician looks into the dynamics involved in fatality or serious injury collisions to determine the dynamics involved in the incident,” Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. John Keegan said. “The process involved surveying equipment, marking all debris and objects involved in the incident and some mathematical determinations to find out what exactly happened. It is very involved.”
The technician also will be investigating a second crash that occurred less than three hours earlier on June 28 near Slab Camp, in the mountains south of Carlsborg.
The single-vehicle crash was on Olympic National Forest Road 2870. The driver, Joshua Page, 31, of Sequim, reportedly hit a tree on the side of the road. Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies met him and his passenger, a male relative of Page, at the Clallam County Fire District 3 Carlsborg station. The passenger, who was unidentified by Clallam County Sheriff’s Office officials, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. Deputies arrested Page on a charge of vehicular assault and transported him to the Clallam County Correctional Facility later that evening.
Alcohol was reportedly a factor in the incident. The victim’s status is unknown, as his identity is yet to be released by the Sheriff’s Office.
