Kaylie Osterberg - Osterberg, 21, of Port Angeles, was charged Nov. 24 with two counts of assault in the second degree and one count of assault in the fourth degree. Clallam County Sheriff's Office deputy reports implicate Osterberg as one of three women who allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman near Sequim on Aug. 3. The pregnant woman and a friend of hers reportedly drove to a party in the woods off Howard Heights Road to pick up another friend who had been drinking. While waiting for the friend, the pregnant woman was beaten repeatedly and sustained a broken nose and bruising all over her body. Her friend received minor injuries. The two victims identified three woman, two of whom were charged Nov. 24, Osterberg and Samantha Walden.



Samantha Walden - Walden, 20, of Sequim, was charged Nov. 24 with two counts of assault in the second degree and one count of assault in the fourth degree. Michael Slezak Jr. - Slezak, 24, of Sequim, was charged Nov. 26 with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver marijuana. On Nov. 20, a Sequim Police officer stopped a vehicle that reportedly did not have a functioning license plate light. The officer reported smelling marijuana in the vehicle and arrested one of the passengers who allegedly admitted to being in possession of the drug. The man indicated he had purchased the two bags of marijuana from Slezak. Another Sequim police officer performed a traffic stop on Slezak later in the evening and also detected the odor of marijuana from his vehicle. The officer applied for a search warrant and found 36 grams of marijuana in Slezak's vehicle. The officer then applied for a search warrant for Slezak's home. Inside the home the officer found two men. One of the men later admitted to knowing of Slezak's arrest and told officers he had moved all contraband to another house in Sequim. The officer received permission to retrieve the items and found more than 100 grams of prepackaged marijuana, 16 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, two digital scales and other paraphernalia.



Russell Charles - Charles, 21, of Port Angeles, was sentenced Nov. 25 to 36 days in jail and $1,840 in fines for the charge of possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony. Charles entered into a plea deal that resulted in him receiving a sentence equal to time already served, which he was credited by the judge.

He also will need to spend at least 12 months in community custody, regularly reporting to the state Department of Corrections. On April 6, Sequim Police stopped Charles for not having a valid drivers license. Charles' license has been revoked or suspended in the third degree so the officer placed him under arrest and conducted a search. The officer allegedly found a methamphetamine pipe and a small amount of packaged methamphetamine on him.



Christopher Butler - Butler, 66, of Sequim, was found not guilty Nov. 5 by a jury on the charge of assault in the first degree. On May 22, Sequim Police officers responded to a disturbance call on the 200 block of North Sequim Avenue. Butler allegedly pointed a loaded pistol at the face of a maintenance man who was trying to fix the lights in the apartment where Butler was staying.
