Brown wins SEF poster contest

With thousands of dollars to give away, Sequim Education Foundation members want to get the word out about their 2009 Film Festival.
They will soon, thanks to student Sage Brown.
The sophomore won the foundation's second film festival design contest and accepted her $100 prize last week.
Each year, students in grades six-12 grade compete to design the winning poster. The design appears on T-shirts, fliers and posters across town touting the April 24 film festival.
Other poster contest entries came from Alex Rutherford, Ali Seeber, Christopher McCarter, Alyssa Robert, Stephanie Dunbar, Crystal Grant, Anna LaBeaume, Shaina Clark, Mianda Robertson, Taylor Roads, Joe Hutchison, Olivia Fazio, Turi Anderson and Serena Okamota.
The film festival debuted in 2006 with the goal of giving students with creative skills a chance to showcase their talents outside academic or athletic arenas. The 2009 film festival, hosted at Sequim High School's Performing Arts Building, features student-created film shorts. Festival officials have extended this year's film length from five minutes to seven.
