The public will get its first chance next week to review and comment on plans for the Priest Road Center, which is slated to include a Schuck's Auto Supply plus three other retail, restaurant and office spaces.

The project is located on the northeast corner of the Priest Road and West Washington Street intersection, across Priest Road from Walmart.

The planning commission will hold a public meeting on the entire proposed development, not just the Schuck's store, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.

Then the city council will hold a public hearing on the project at 6 p.m. Monday, April 13, in the Transit Center.

The city's State Environmental Policy Act analysis released March 3 concluded the project would not have any significant environmental impact. Comments on that assessment are due to the city by March 17.

The development that first was proposed last July is planned to have four buildings totaling 70,775 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space on six acres, according to the city's meeting notice.

The developer is Sequim-Y3K LLC, which includes Ed and Kathrin Sumpter of Sequim and Frederick and Donna Garner of Gresham, Ore.

The city also plans to make the east half of Brackett Road a one-way street in response to the project and other growth in the area.

Traffic would be allowed westbound only from Brackett Road's intersection with West Washington Street to where it meets North Ninth Avenue.

Then Brackett Road would become a two-way street again from Ninth Avenue to its terminus at Priest Road. No date is set for the change.
