Community salmon feast
and silent auction
The Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society holds its annual Olympic Peninsula BirdFest silent auction and banquet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribal Center in Blyn.
The Saturday night salmon banquet - in the tradition of the Jamestown S'Klallam tribe with the beauty of a Sequim Bay sunset on the horizon - will feature locally grown, organic foods from the Sequim-Dungeness Valley in addition to fresh salmon. Before the banquet, guests can view the native art gallery and carving shed and make bids on silent auction items.
The dinner speaker is Dr. Julia K. Parish, professor/associate director of the Aquatic & Fishery Sciences program at the University of Washington, speaking on " Biodiversity, Biomass and Behavior: Forces Affecting Seabirds in Washington Waters."

Sequim guild hosts
spring bunco party
Salads, sandwiches and desserts, as well as a game of bunco, are offered at the Sequim Guild's spring bunco party at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 3, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 515 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. The benefit for the Seattle Children's Hospital helps provide medical care for children. A $10 donation is requested. For reservations, call Mari at 683-8479.
Veterans meet for annual lunch
Veterans of Foreign Wars members from
Sequim, Carlsborg, Port Angeles, Forks, Neah Bay, Port Hadlock and Brinnon are invited to VFW District 14's annual spring luncheon at noon Saturday, April 18, at the Cedars at Dungeness golf course, 1965 Woodcock Road, Sequim.
The cost is $15.50 per person, including gratuity.

Sharing wood sculptures with the community
Olympic Driftwood Sculptors will show sculptures at the Museum and Arts Center during the month of April. The group promotes and shares the art of driftwood sculpture with the "LuRon(r)" method, which is unique to the Pacific Northwest. The goal is to reveal the inner beauty of the wood.
They also do a less traditional "Beyond LuRon(r)" for those who want to expand their creativity.
Driftwood artists will demonstrate from 5-8 p.m. Friday,
April 3, at the Museum and Arts Center First Friday open house, 175 W. Cedar St., Sequim.
Agency receives grant
Family Planning of Clallam County, a local United Way Agency, has been awarded a grant of $20,000 from the Washington State Chapter of the March of Dimes in support of their Pregnancy Outreach Project.
The POP will provide services to all women of childbearing age with emphasis on low-income, rural, Native American and Latina women and at-risk youth ages 13-24 with limited resources in Clallam County.
