The Clallam County board of commissioners in March approved $98,000 in distributions to local nonprofit agencies for human services and prevention programs.
This year's funding priorities are prevention and intervention services addressing violence and suicide, meeting basic needs, and child and youth services.
Agencies receiving grants are:
_ Concerned Citizens - $8,500 (Forks Teen Center, child care)
_ Caring Place of West Clallam County - $6,000 (outreach, educational programs)
_ Family Planning of Clallam County - $8,000 (youth suicide prevention programs)
_ Olympic Community Action - $9,000 (food/nutrition services)
_ Peninsula Community Mental Health - $8,000 (geriatric outreach)
_ Parenting Matters Foundation - $5,000 (parenting support for West End)
_ Peninsula Dispute Resolution Center - $5,000 (parenting plans/low income)
_ Pro Bono Lawyers of Clallam/Jefferson County - $3,000 (legal aid)
_ West End Outreach - $5,000 (emergency needs of mental health patients)
_ Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics Clinic - $8,500 (medical care).
