May meeting set for 109-unit project

A four-phase development to include 109 units of senior housing and 60,000 square feet of office and retail space is the subject of a public meeting set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.
The proposed Peninsula Sunbelt development is slated for 7.5 acres on the southeast corner of South Sequim Avenue and U.S. Highway 101, including land on both sides of East Brownfield Road.
The proposed Foothills subdivision is across Sequim Avenue to the west. Another subdivision is adjacent to the south and an empty field is to the east.
The developers are Paul and Kelli Murphy of Seattle through their company, Peninsula Sunbelt Investments LLC of Seattle.
Comments are due by today, May 13, to the Sequim Planning Department, 152 W. Cedar St.
The city intends to issue a "mitigated determination of nonsignificance," which means the developer must compensate for environmental impacts but no environmental impact statement is necessary.
The Sequim City Council will review the commission's recommendation at 6 p.m. June 8 in the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.
