If you had an extra $250 in your pocket, how would you spend it?
Some Sequim seniors may be answering that question by the end of the month.
Certain beneficiaries who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, railroad retirement or veterans' benefits will receive a one-time $250 economic recovery payment as part of The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Individuals who were entitled to such benefits during the months of November 2008-January 2009 may be eligible for the one-time payment.
Potential recipients will receive the payment automatically the same way as their federal benefit - whether that's by check, direct deposit or Direct Express debit card.
If a beneficiary and his or her spouse both receive Social Security or Supplemental Security Income benefits, each of them will get the $250 payment.
Recipients should get their payments by the end of May. If a payment isn't received by June 4, contact the Social Security Administration about eligibility.
