Sequim fisherman found dead aboard boat

Fredrick E. "Rick" Washburn, 72, of Sequim was found dead Monday morning on his fishing boat Allman Joy about 67 miles southeast of Sitka, Alaska.
The U.S. Coast Guard Command Center in Juneau received a call from the fishing boat C'est La Vie reporting that
Washburn's 36-foot fishing boat had run hard aground about 7:51 a.m. Ketchikan time on West Kuiu Island near Gedney Harbor, about 130 miles south of Juneau.
Washburn was reported as unresponsive.
A helicopter arrived on scene at 9:16 a.m., but the Coast Guardsman could not get a pulse from Washburn. He was pronounced dead and transported by Alaska State Troopers to Sitka.
According to the Division of Alaska State Troopers, no foul play is suspected, but the state medical examiner's office has requested the body be shipped to Anchorage for an autopsy.
"There was no suspicious activity on board when they came aboard," said Alaska State Trooper Kyle Carson.
"It may have been a medical condition. We just need to verify through the medical examiner's office."
