The Sequim Education Foundation named Michelle Grinnell of Sequim to the board of directors on June 11.

"Michelle pitched right in and helped us all set up and tear down our sets for the film festival in April and everyone enjoyed working together with her," said foundation president Dick Hughes.

Grinnell was invited to join the all-volunteer unpaid board because of her enthusiastic "can do" attitude and love for Sequim schoolchildren, Hughes said in a prepared statement.

"I look forward to working with all of you," Grinnell told directors upon her confirmation.

Grinnell is a graduate of Port Angeles High School and Pacific Lutheran University. She has a nursing degree and works as a registered nurse at the Jamestown Family Medical Clinic in Sequim.

Grinnell and her husband, Jack, have three sons: Hawk, 19, Nick, 18, and Mack, 15.

She is a member of Sequim Community Church and a committee member in Boy Scout Troop 1491.

This year, Michelle and her husband worked with several other scouting parents to encourage all the Scouts in their sons' patrol to simultaneously achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

"SEF's mission is to inspire Sequim students to achieve success," Hughes said, "and Michelle is just the kind of person we need to help us fulfill our role."

Grinnell will work with SEF directors in the scholarship and grants programs and then she will be assigned an SEF program of her own in the fall.
