We welcome you to spend a part of your Independence Day at the Sequim Open Aire Market this Saturday.
It is Family Day at the market and special activities are planned, beginning with a musical performance and sing-along for children from 9:30-11 a.m. featuring Dan Lieberman and Paul Stehr-Green.
Lieberman's fun and creative songs feature stories about the plants and animals that inhabit the amazing ecosystem on the peninsula. He wrote many of the songs during his tenure at the Olympic Park Institute. Warning: Adults might find themselves singing along, too.
Music continues from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with Cort Armstrong in his debut at the Open Aire Market.
Additional family-themed activities include a ceramic art pottery "throwing" demonstration throughout the day and ceramic bowls to paint as part of The Empty Bowls Project.
No day at the market during strawberry season would be complete without a visit to the Friends of the Fields booth, where for only $5 you can enjoy the best piece of shortcake this side of the Dungeness and help save Finn Hill Farm at the same time.
New at the market are delicious chocolate truffles from chocolatier Chocolate Serenade and fresh eggs from Fairaview Farm and A New Leaf, both located in the market square.
If you are looking for a gift item, check out new vendor DJ's Pens for a unique and beautiful handmade piece of functional art. Glacier Glass returns to the market. Vic and Julie Janda's glass pendants have such depth and color you won't be able to keep from looking at them.
