A Georgia man seriously injured Aug. 31 in a motorcycle versus truck collision north

of Sequim was listed in serious condition Tuesday afternoon at Harborview Medical Center, and his wife was listed in satisfactory condition.

John Jerrit, 61, and Sandra E. Jerrit, 59, both of Woodstock, Ga., were airlifted to Harborview following a truck versus motorcycle collision at Sequim-Dungeness Way and East Anderson Road, four miles north of Sequim.

Woodstock is a city of 14,000 people located 25 miles north of Atlanta.

Longtime family friend Nick Carberry of Woodstock has spoken with family members during the past week and corresponded with the Sequim Gazette by e-mail.

Sandy was recovering from surgery for a fractured pelvis and other broken and shattered bones, Carberry wrote.

Steel rods were implanted in her legs and doctors estimated she would be in a wheelchair for three months, followed by three months of physical therapy to learn to walk again.

John or "Woody" has had a shunt implanted in his head to relieve cranial pressure from the wreck, according to Carberry.

Woody will be in the intensive care unit for at least a month and cannot have surgery on his femur (thigh bone) yet.

The driver of the pickup truck that collided with the Jerrits' motorcycle, 80-year-old Robert D. Dunda of

Sequim, suffered head, torso and internal injuries. He has been released from Olympic Medical Center.

Dunda was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

Clallam County prosecutor Deb Kelly said her office wouldn't pick up the case for further prosecution unless asked to review it by the Washington State Patrol.
