The Sequim High School choirs, Tracy Blume and The Olympic Express Big Band present "A USO Salute to Veterans" at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Sequim High School auditorium, 533 N. Sequim Ave. Tickets cost $10 from choir students, at Pacific Mist Books and at the door. Proceeds will meet student expenses when they travel to Anaheim, Calif., next spring for adjudication at the Heritage Festival.

The North Olympic Library System's Sequim branch offers a book discussion on Abraham Verghese's "The Tennis Partner" at
7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Staff member Martin Ralls leads the discussion about this story of the complex relationship the author, a physician, developed with an Australian intern.
A paean to the healing powers of tennis, this book also is a meditation on friendship, fatherhood, love, addiction and the loneliness of physicians. Multiple copies of the book are available at the library.

On Dec. 5, the Olympic Peninsula community is invited to the Fort Worden Commons in Port Townsend to celebrate an intergalactic extravaganza of murder and intrigue. "Murder in Space," written and directed by Ramon Dailey, joins a growing tradition of dinner theater entertainment to help support RSVP, one of the many programs of OlyCAP.
The price for tickets is $50, reserve tables early. Ticket information is at ptmystery.com. A feast will be prepared and served by Bon Appetit, complemented by a no-host bar serving fine beers and wines.
North Olympic watercolor artist Bobbie Rhoads' entry into the 2009 Clallam fair entitled "et cetera" garnered two awards: First Premium blue ribbon in watercolor medium and Best Abstract blue ribbon. Rhoads is a Sequim Arts member.

Peninsula Trails Coalition holds its next Olympic Discovery Trail work party from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14. Come for all or part of the day to help beat back brush along the trail in Carlsborg.
