Clallam County – A man who ran from troopers during a traffic stop was located a short time later by a police tracking dog, and booked into the Clallam County Jail.

A trooper was on patrol shortly after midnight last night on State Route 101 near Happy Valley Road and was a few cars behind a red 1990 Subaru.  They were traveling in the eastbound lane. 

The Subaru, which was the lead car, signaled and moved left into the westbound lane and continued traveling eastbound.

The trooper stopped the vehicle and the driver, who was alone, immediately exited his vehicle.  As the trooper began his contact with the driver, he fled on foot.  As he ran down a small embankment, he fell down and was tased by the trooper. The man got back up and continued running into a swamp where the trooper lost sight of him.

Officers and deputies from neighboring agencies set up containment and Sequim PD Officer Mike Hill and his K9 partner began tracking the subject.  After a short track, the K9 located the man who was identified as 48 year-old Anthony E. Iman of Seattle.

Mr. Iman was transported to Olympic Medical Center for treatment of dog bites.  After he was medically cleared, he was booked into the Clallam County Jail. 

He was booked on the following charges:
    •    Obstructing
    •    Felony warrant - Escape from Community Custody
    •   
Mr. Iman told troopers the reason he was traveling in the wrong lane was because he thought he was on a two lane road.  He was also driving without a valid driver’s license.
