OlyPen continues serving needy families and individuals by distributing used working-condition computers.

Since Aug. 18, when OlyPen and Sequim Kiwanis started the Computers for Community Program, 46 computers have been donated to families on the peninsula.

The two groups have received a combined 300 donations to date.

Chris Lelle, sales manager for OlyPen, said 23 people are on a list awaiting computers.

"We are attempting to secure updated operating systems like Windows XP, Vista or higher so that these computers can roll out as soon as possible," he said.

Lelle said OlyPen is looking to expand its donation base in other ways, too.

Food, foster families

They are having a food drive in support of the Sequim Food Bank through Christmas.

All food collected needs to be nonperishable, such as canned goods. Perishable items (vegetables, meat, etc.) can be taken directly to the Sequim Food Bank, 144 W. Alder St., Sequim.

OlyPen also is partnering with the North Olympic Foster Parents Association to gather items for needy families.

Items needed are:

_ New boys and girls clothes (all sizes)

_ Men's and women's clothes (all sizes)

_ Pajamas, socks, coats, mittens, gloves and hats

_ Toothbrushes and hairbrushes

"Many times children have nothing but the clothes on their backs when placed with a foster family," Lelle said.

Carol Pope, president of NOFPA, said most items are welcome including toys, games, blankets and gift cards to local stores where older children can shop.

Anyone can bring donations to OlyPen during business hours: 8 a.m.-

7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays at 245 E. Washington St.,

Sequim, through Wednesday, Dec. 23.

For more information, call OlyPen at 683-1456 or 800-303-8696, or Pope at 683-6646 or 775-0677.
