AARP Driver Safety Classes Scheduled on Olympic Peninsula

Four great reasons to take the 8-hour AARP Driver Safety Class

1. Car Insurance Discount:  Completion of an AARP Driver Safety Classes (aka “55Alive”) qualifies students 55 and older for a discount on their car insurance (mandated by the State of Washington).  Discounts usually range from 5 to 15% and some insurance companies will give their clients discounts as long as they are 50 or older.  Check with your insurance agent to find out their company’s policy.

2. Increased safety on the roadway.  You may learn something that will save your life or reduce your injuries in a crash.

3. Decreased chance of getting a traffic citation.   A survey done by AARP showed that those who take the class reduced their chance of getting a ticket.  Students learn to be more aware of traffic safety issues and learn about new Washington State Laws.

4. Help you to prepare for retirement.  The class may help you prepare for retirement from driving as we discuss transitioning and adaptive equipment that may enable you to drive safer longer.

The cost of the class is $14 and AARP members receive a $2 discount (you need to bring your AARP membership number to class).  With prior arrangements, you may take one day of the class at one location and the second day at a different location.  For more information, please contact Linda Pfafman at 360-344-9721 (e-mail: lpfafman@co.jefferson.wa.us)
