A great community builds great schools

The motto of the Sequim School District is, "A great community builds great schools." The recent levy election outcome is a positive affirmation of the value our community holds for the students of our district. On behalf of the students and staff of our district, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continuing support.

While we feel that the district motto is a true and accurate statement, it also is true that "Great schools build a great community." Schools are often a community gathering place. Additionally, it is clear that while our children may be 30 percent of our population, they are certainly 100 percent of our future.

We recognize that existing economic conditions are challenging and it is absolutely essential that we are careful stewards of all the resources we have been provided. We are very cognizant of the responsibility we have to prioritize thoughtfully and to efficiently utilize every dollar. Our conservative spending practices and scrutiny of all expenditures is a continuing commitment to our community.

Our greatest achievements are rarely the result of the efforts of a single individual. We are very appreciative of all of those in our community who advocate on behalf of our children. The choice to invest in our children is a decision that results in a lasting positive outcome. "We never stand so tall as when we stoop to help a child." Thank you for your support of our children.

Bill Bentley

Superintendent,

Sequim School

District
