Thirteen resolutions on matters ranging from calling for the appointment of state judges to urging the city of Port Angeles to stop funding the HarborWorks Public Development Authority will be considered by Clallam County Democrats when they meet in convention on Saturday, April 10, at the Jefferson School gymnasium, 218 E. 12th St., Port Angeles.

Participants also will consider adoption of the 2010 county platform, will elect 14 delegates and seven alternates to the state Democratic Convention and will consider whether to make endorsements for the fall elections.

John Marrs, Clallam Democratic Central Committee chairman, said participation is open to all registered voters who will sign in as Democrats. Registration is at 10 a.m. on April 10 and voting credentials will not be issued to late arrivals. The agenda begins at 11 a.m.

He said 17-year-olds who will be eligible to vote in November and who declare themselves to be Democrats can participate.

Marrs said any Clallam County Democrat can run for election as a delegate to the state convention, which is June 25-26 in Vancouver, Wash. Delegate nominees can make brief nomination speeches.

The party’s rules require that half of the delegates elected be female and half male.
