Sequim Capital Projects Chief Frank Needham has two weeks to facilitate project transitions from home and won't be returning to the Public Works office.

Sequim Planning Director Dennis Lefevre confirmed Tuesday that Needham was out of the office and wouldn't be coming back.

Lefevre said Needham was given two weeks to prepare transition plans outside of the office for his projects. Besides the two-week notice of termination, Needham was given a severance package, Lefevre said.

Needham is the second city official to leave under City Manager Steve Burkett. On May 6, Burkett and Sequim Police Chief Robert Spinks issued a joint statement saying Spinks would step down later this year.

Spinks is looking for jobs in other Washington cities.

Burkett was hired as city manager in October 2009 and told the Sequim Gazette earlier this month his ideal situation would be having department heads with styles and approaches similar to his.

Burkett was out of the office Tuesday afternoon and could not be reached for comment.
