A 12.2-mile stretch of Highway 101 along the southern edge of Lake Crescent is undergoing road repairs beginning today and continuing through June 18.

Road crews will work weekdays between 6 a.m.-6 p.m., measuring sections of the road in preparation for further repairs and chip-seal later this summer. The exceptions are weekends of June 5-6 and June 12-13, when no road repairs are planned.

Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Motorists may also make use of an optional detour, using highways 112 and 113 to travel north of the lake and bypass the scheduled roadwork.

Olympic National Park Superintendent Karen Gustin said routine road repairs like this project are typically completed during summer due to warmer temperatures and longer, drier days.

“This project will have a positive impact on improved visitor access and safety around the lake, so we ask for patience and understanding during these short-term delays,” Gustin said.
