What a joy it has been to come to the market in the mornings and see mountains of fresh strawberries on the farmers' tables and locally roasted coffee steaming hot. This week is the last week for the Friends of the Fields strawberry shortcake. Come and make one more trip to contribute to this great organization by eating a homemade shortcake covered in local strawberries and topped with freshly whipped cream.

Have a seat at our picnic tables, relax and enjoy the sweet sounds of Sara Shea singing this week.

The farmers are starting to fill up the market square, hooray!

Greysmarsh Farm's stand is overflowing with strawberries, with more berries, berries, berries to follow.

Sequim Prairie Star is a new farm vendor, coming from here in Sequim. This innovative couple has been doing "vermiculture," aka worm farming, for some time. They sell their special worm tea to boost your garden. They also offer highly nutritious sunflower sprouts to add to your salad and indoor tomato plants. Come and learn from these knowledgeable folks.

We also are happy to announce our new vendor Kol Simcha Farm of Happy Valley Road. Specializing in grass-fed lamb, this is a unique, high-quality product that we are fortunate to have in our small town. You now are able to buy lamb by the cut. They also are offering grass-fed beef.

Have you tried José's Famous Salsa? New this year, José Garcia expanded his salsa production beyond friends and family. Now in its third month of business, it is clear that everyone loves to put José's salsa on just about everything from eggs, to tortillas, to fresh pasta and burgers. There aren't many savory places you can go wrong with this special blend. You can rest assured he has salsa ranging from mild to "crazy hot," my personal favorite. All made with fresh produce, chopped, diced and stirred, this is a labor of love that you are going to love as well.

The Suzanne Arnold community booths are hosting Friends of the Fields, Sequim Arts and the VFW.

See you at the market.
