Sequim Open Aire Market

There is a great feeling of community and vitality that comes together at our market each week. We truly are fortunate to live in a town that not only has a thriving market but also has the city's backing and blessing to be here. We are grateful to Steve Burkett, the new city manager, for his positive support, and that of Ken Hays, the mayor, as well as other city personnel. Thank you.

It's October and the produce is abundant. It is the harvest season and the market has a spectacular bounty. Come down and get your week's fruit, produce and grain - grown right here on the peninsula.

Looking for something new at the market to keep you cozy this fall?

Debra Brochin began painting silk scarves in 2008. The process of making the scarves has many steps, including stretching white silk on frames made from pipes and steam-setting for four hours. At the market each week, you are welcome to peek into the process by looking through the book she has created showing how each of these colorful art works was created. Brochin also is an accomplished painter and sells prints of her original works.

Right next to Brochin is Patricia de Salis, with sweaters and knits that are colorful, warm and stylish. Owner Patricia Earnest has been knitting most of her life and branched out into creating original designs. She uses only the finest materials from Italy, France, Turkey and the U.S., and you will find the vibrant colors and modern style of her sweaters work splendidly with Brochin's scarves.

The music this week is by Frank Keith and the Suzanne Arnold Community Booths will be hosted by Family Planning, Soroptimist International of Sequim and Greyhound Inc.
