Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic and the Olympic Area Agency on Aging host "Living Well with Chronic Conditions," a free workshop series, beginning at 1:30-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19.

The workshop meets for two-and-a-half hours each Tuesday through Nov. 23, at Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, 925 N. Sequim Ave., in the adult education room.

"Living Well with Chronic Conditions" helps individuals who suffer from chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease, chronic pain, arthritis, hypertension or another persistent illness. Workshop participants learn strategies to manage symptoms, work with their health care professionals, set weekly goals, problem-solve, reduce stress and relax, deal with fatigue, eat right and exercise safely and easily.

The Stanford program

Based on the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program that was developed by the School of Medicine at Stanford University, the plan is recognized internationally as a premier, evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention program.

Two local leaders who have been trained and certified to lead the Stanford Chronic Disease Self-Management program facilitate the workshop.

This free series is offered by Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic and made possible through funding by the Washington Department of Health, the Olympic Area Agency on Aging and the National Council on Aging.

Space for the workshop is limited so register early. For more information and registration, call 866-582-1487 or 360-538-2457.
