Saturdays 9 a. m.-3 p.m.

between Sequim and Second avenues

Wednesdays 2-6 p.m. corner of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street

The fall is upon us and the market is about to make a move. Beginning Oct. 23, the market will be Saturdays at the corner of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street and hours change to 10 a.m.-2 p.m. We are thrilled to have the support of the community to continue our market into the winter. We will be open at the corner on Saturdays and Wednesday afternoons until the last week of December.

Many of you may not realize that the growth of the Sequim Open Aire Market is right in the flow of the entire country. Across the United States farmers markets are having an incredible renaissance. The number of farmers markets across the country has grown 16 percent this year, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture. The 2010 National Farmers Market Directory lists 6,132 operational farmers markets - in 2009 the agency counted 5,274. Since the directory's creation in 1994, the number of operational farmers markets has tripled from 1,755 to 5,274. Thank you for your participation in making our market strong.

New at the market this week are the smiles of all the vendors you love! It is time to get yourself a warm, freshly made hat from Fresh Hats. Visit with owner Renee Ewsbank and you will learn about making hats and living off the grid. All her hats are made with a foot treadle sewing machine. She is an incredible inspiration for simple living in style.

With your Fresh Hat on, visit Steve Slatin of Hippo Pots in the next booth. Get yourself a beautiful hand-thrown pottery bowl for all that hot soup you are about to make or a wintery mug for the mulled cider you are going to enjoy on the cool days of winter. And keep in mind the season of giving that is fast approaching.

Make the market yours and come down on Saturdays! The music this week will be the Old Time Fiddlers. Come down and enjoy these great musicians.

See you at the market!
