Industrial park expansion planned

The Port of Port Angeles signed a letter of intent Dec. 8 with Angeles Composite Technologies, Inc. to construct two new buildings expanding the Composite Manufacturing Campus and creating close to 100 new jobs.
The campus is comprised of 110 acres next to the William R. Fairchild International Airport in the Port’s existing Airport Industrial Park. ACTI, which has been a tenant of the Port since 1996, is a supplier of advanced structural composite assemblies and components to serve global commercial and military aerospace markets, the Port’s administrative manager Holly Hairell said in a news release.
Customers of ACTI include Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Bombardier and the company employs 110 people.
Hairell said the Port will issue bonds to fund $4 million project.
Executive Director Jeff Robb said the site plan includes three 25,000 square-foot buildings. Two new buildings will be constructed by the port, the first in 2011 and the second in 2012. Robb said more than 100 new jobs will be created and more are expected to follow.
Port commissioner Jim McEntire said he is happy to support ATCI’s growth with capital spending.
“This is what Washington Ports do,” he said. “(They) create the right kind of infrastructure for private sector business opportunities and private sector job creation.”
