The Trey Green Guild, benefiting Seattle Children’s Hospital, hosted a weekend of activities June 3-5 and netted $72,500 for the region’s youth health center.

On June 3, guild members hosted a second-annual golf tournament at The Cedars at Dungeness and on June 5 a fun run, “Miles for Miracles,” as part of the North Olympic Discovery Marathon.

The main event on Saturday, June 4, was the sixth-annual “Wine Gala & Auction,” also at The Cedars at Dungeness.

About 215 attendees flocked to the wine gala and it was a record year for funds raised thanks to a number of gift baskets and gift certificates donated from the community.

Clallam County sent 744 patients to the hospital last year and received $828,000 in uncompensated care.

As Trey Green Guild president Janet Gray noted, the $72,500 the group raised this year — beyond the 2011 goal of $60,000 — makes a small dent in the $102 million in care the hospital provided their patients, patients who otherwise would not be able to afford medical attention, let alone top-notch care.

A majority of the money raised by the Trey Green Guild comes from the live auction and its “raise the paddle” opportunity.

The guests gave $14,000 after hearing Suzy Matter share her son Colton Matter’s story about his two bone marrow transplants, one as recently as three months ago.

Most guests went home wearing one, two or three of the bracelets brought by Colton, each of them bringing another $5 to the night’s total, Gray said.

Trey Green Guild was named in memory of Trey Green, the infant son of Arthur and Erin Green, who died shortly after birth from a congential defect.

On their website, the Greens said the guild is a way to honor their son’s memory while raising funds for children and families in need.
