 For the sixth year in a row, fifth-grade students at Greywolf Elementary School went out with a bang.

Using 85 rocket kits purchased by the Greywolf PTA, every student in the fifth-grade class made a rocket, painted it and learned about the different systems that make it work. Finally, on June 22, they launched their rockets in the back of the school yard.

Teacher John Cole, who started the end-of-the-year rocket project in 2005, said the 17 mph wind gusts on the day of the launch proved challenging but also entertaining.

"Five of the rockets were blown on the roof of the school more than 150 yards away," he said.
