Five injured in collision near Discovery Bay

Two cars collided in a head-on crash at 9:05 a.m. Friday morningon state Route 104, two miles east of the Discovery Bay intersection. 

 


Washington State Patrol reports a semi-truck was traveling westbound when a 1998 Toyota 4Runner attempted to pass but collided with a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu going east. 

 


Sgt. Gailin Hester said five were injured, four in the Toyota and one person in the Chevrolet.

 


Andrew Pyle, 37, from Burien and driver of the 4Runner, sustained facial, leg and hand injuries. Passengers Shiboney Dumo, 35, from Seatac, sustained head, chest and leg injuries; Chancelore Dumo, 2, sustained a possible neck injury; and Zonaira Hernandez, 12, from Seattle, sustained neck and chest injuries from her seatbelt. 

 


Unai Golkoetxeta, 27, from Spain and driver of the Malibu, sustained facial, abdominal, leg and thigh injuries.

 


Pyle, Hernandez and Golkoetxeta were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. The Dumos were taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. 

 


Washington State Department of Transportation reports traffic was heavy from Discovery Bay to milepost 4. 

 


Both vehicles were totaled and all passengers were wearing seatbelts.
