County planning commission meets
The Clallam County Planning Commission will hold its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. today, Oct. 5, in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. The agenda includes the Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) — 2012-2017 and a continued public hearing on Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Map Amendment application REZ2010-00004.
There are two opportunities for public comment.
Fire district board reschedules meeting
The Clallam County Fire Protection District 3 board of commissioners has rescheduled its regular meeting to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Station No. 34, 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. The meeting originally was scheduled for Oct. 4.

Peninsula Young Professionals Network debate set
The Peninsula Young Professionals Network co-hosts a political debate with the Peninsula Daily News on Thursday, Oct. 6, at The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course, 1965 Woodcock Road, Sequim. A mixer is at 5:30 p.m. and debates are at 6 p.m.
The debates include candidates for Olympic Medical Center Hospital Commissioner and Clallam County Commissioner, District 1, with a short public comment period for Sequim and Port Angeles city council candidates.

All-year reunion tailgate party set for Homecoming
There will be an all-year class reunion tailgate party before the Friday, Oct. 7,
Sequim High School Homecoming game. The party begins at 5 p.m. at the Sequim elementary playground adjacent to the high school football stadium.
The classes present will be recognized during halftime and party attendees will be offered discount student prices to the game.
Organizers plan to grill hamburgers and hotdogs; attendees should bring side dishes or salads. To help set up, arrive at 4 p.m. Donations will be collected for the up-front costs; any surplus goes to SHS clubs.
Footprinters serve Sunday brunch
Footprinters Olympic Peninsula Chapter 74 hosts an all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road, Sequim. Cost is $9 and proceeds go to the scholarship program.
Hospital guild holds lunch/fundraiser
The Sequim Guild of Seattle Children’s Hospital hosts the annual Fall Regional Outreach Meeting as a luncheon/fundraiser at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
Jason Russo, an RN in the Autism Center at Seattle Children’s, is the featured speaker and a local family will share their experiences in dealing with autism.

Sequim Prairie Garden Club holds its annual Fall Harvest Festival Sale from
11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St., Sequim. The sale features plants and bulbs, gifts, garden books and cookbooks, a bake sale and raffle items. Vision Loss Information Fair set
Lions Clubs International, the National Federation of the Blind and the Vision Loss Center host a Vision Loss Information Fair from 10 a.m.-
4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the lower level of the Armory Square Mall, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles. Information booths give details about services to help people living with blindness and vision loss to be independent. This will be an opportunity to meet service providers and to meet other individuals who are coping with vision loss.
Light Station meeting set
The New Dungeness Light Station Association will hold its fall membership meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim.
Current activities and projects will be reviewed, followed by a presentation by Dave Cummins, son of Walter Cummins, a Coast Guard keeper stationed at New Dungeness from 1955-1958.
