The Sequim Wolves needed a little help winning their seventh league title in eight years.

They got it.

On Thursday night, Kingston knocked off North Kitsap and opened the door for Sequim, who got four second half touchdowns to defeat peninsula rival Port Angeles 27-14 Friday night.

Junior quarterback Jack Wiker ran for three touchdowns to help the Wolves rebound from a 7-0 halftime deficit.

“No way we were going to lose this game,” said Tyler Forshaw, Sequim senior wide receiver and defensive back.

After sitting out the first half because of what head coach Erik Wiker called internal team discipline, Jack Wiker sparked an offense that scored on its first three possessions, all quarterback scrambles for scores.

Port Angeles got within 19-14 when Dylan Brewer took a fullback dive 50 yards for a touchdown with 7:32 remaining, but a 73-yard Christian Miles kick return set up Sequim’s final score, a 12-yard scamper by Lopaka Yasumura.

Sequim (6-1 in league, 8-1 overall) takes the Olympic League title outright and will play at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo. The opponent is to be determined.

Port Angeles slips to the league’s fourth seed and will have a district play-in game against Interlake on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
