[Updated Nov. 8, 2011] A collision involving a passenger car and fuel tanker blocked traffic on U.S. Highway 101 near Old Gardiner Road at about 7:45 a.m. on Nov. 2.

No injuries were reported.

Washington State Patrol reports that Alexander Krauch, 17, of Sequim, was headed eastbound on Highway 101 and pulled out in front of Jackie Hart, 58, who was driving a 2004 Freightliner tanker truck.

The vehicles collided and Krauch’s 1999 Subaru Legacy came to rest on its roof while the Harris Transportation tanker truck rolled down an embankment between Old Gardiner Road and Highway 101.

A 35-year-old passenger in the fuel truck was not hurt in the collision.

No fuel was spilled from the approximately 11,300 gallons of fuel onboard the tanker. The fuel was headed to a Port Angeles business for delivery.

Both vehicles were totaled.

The roadway was fully blocked for 30 minutes.

No drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, according to the state patrol.

Fire District 3 personnel protected a drainage ditch with absorbent material to stop any potential fuel leak from reaching nearby creeks.

Responding agencies include Fire District 3 (Clallam County), Washington State Patrol, Washington Department of Transportation, Olympic Ambulance, PUD and Harris Transportation representatives.
