Santa in Sequim today
Santa will appear at KeyBank, 120 N. Dunlap Ave., Sequim, from noon-3 p.m. today, Dec. 21, to give away candy canes and chocolate. There also will be a free photo for each child to take home.

Candlelighting service set in Port Townsend
There is a CommUnity Candlelighting Service from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at the Masonic Hall, 1338 Jefferson St., Port Townsend. The service includes music, a live Nativity and a candle lighting. Families are welcome.

Free community dinner set for Dec. 29
A free community dinner of turkey with “all the fixings” will be served at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., in Sequim. A sing-along will follow.
Reservations are requested and may be made by phoning the church at 683-5367 between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Tuesday or Wednesday before the dinner or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The church will continue the dinners on the last Thursday of each month in 2012 and will hold them at 5 p.m. during the winter months.
Explore spinning, weaving at Sequim Library
The North Olympic Shuttle & Spindle guild will have several looms and weaving styles set up to explore on Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. The program begins at 12:30 p.m. Call 460-7477.
Show, sale still on at MAC
The annual Small Works Show and Sale by the Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley and Sequim Arts continues through Friday, Dec. 30, at the MAC Exhibit Center, 175 W. Cedar St. in Sequim. All artworks are sized 8 inches by 10 inches or less and are priced to sell as gifts.
The center is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, but will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 24. Call 683-8110.
Big-top murder mystery planned
A New Year’s Eve party with a circus murder-mystery theme is from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Olympic Universalist Unitarian Fellowship Hall, 73 Howe Road, Port Angeles. Attendees will take parts and solve the mystery under the big top.
There also is a potluck dinner, with vegetarian soup provided.
A donation of $5-$10 will go to Manna and Friends of the Fields. Call Rose Marschall, 360-808-2662, to make reservations and be assigned roles.
Humane Society outreach program set
The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society holds its monthly community outreach program from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. The program features Tracey Hixon, corrections program manager, Olympic Corrections Center, who will discuss the success of the dog training program offered, which includes dogs from the shelter.

PFOA food drive helps animals in need
Peninsula Friends of Animals’ first Pet Food Drive is in full swing. The PFOA Pet Food Bank helps feed the pets of people in need and keep pets with their families. Donations can be dropped off at the following businesses in Sequim: Co-op Farm & Garden, Greywolf Veterinary Hospital, Goin’ to the Dogs, Safeway, Country Care Vet, Frick’s Home and Health, Fabulous Nails, Best Friend Nutrition and Changes Hair Salon. In Port Angeles, Safeway (east), Patricia’s Pets, Tiny Bubbles and Airport Garden are participating.

Airport Garden sponsors pet food drive
Airport Garden, Pet-Plant-Feed Center, 2200 W. Edgewood Drive, Port Angeles, is holding a Holiday Cat Food Drive to benefit Peninsula Friends of Animals. They will have two large pallets of cat food, one full and one empty. As people purchase the bags, they are moved to the other pallet and Airport Garden will match the donation. The PFOA Pet Food Bank helps families in need to keep their pets with them. Call PFOA at 452-0414.
