A group of Sequimites will gather this Friday, April 5, to figure out the best way to keep their buzz going,

The buzz in question is The Buzz, the popular coffee shop that has been dishing up fine java and other goodies for nine years on North Sequim Avenue. The coffee shop also serves as a community gathering place, with a weekly “open mic” night, regular Scrabble games, and meetings held by all sorts of local organizations.

Deb Ferguson, who owns the coffee shop and the adjacent BeeDazzled, said times are tough at The Buzz. She said that’s likely the case because times are tough all over.

Itty-Bitty Buzz, the Port Angeles coffee shop Ferguson has owned for eight years, was closed Monday, April 2, but Ferguson said it would soon re-open. She added she has Itty-Bitty Buzz up for sale.

This week she’s looking for ideas. If someone wants to throw a few dollars at the problem, that’s fine, she said. But right now the plan is to figure out a new game plan for her business.

“I want some smart minds to save what’s important to the community,” she said. “People smarter than I am.”

The gathering will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday evening at The Buzz, 128 N. Sequim Ave., in concert with the popular First Friday Art Walk.
