The theme: “An Evening in South Africa.” The purpose: to raise funds for the Olympic Medical Center Foundation.

 

The 10th annual Harvest of Hope gala was a winner on both counts, with a sold-out crowd of 200 enjoying a taste of South Africa, including some of the country’s splendid wines.

 

Initial estimates show $151,645 was raised to benefit patients being treated at the Olympic Medical Cancer Center.

 

Guests dined on fabulous South African cuisine prepared by local chef Kathryn Kitts of The Sweet Beginning Cafe.

 

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a live auction at the event, with the bidding both spirited and competitive.

 

Cancer survivor Lisa McCoy and her husband, Randall, moved those in attendance by sharing their journey battling the disease. The audience rewarded their courage by donating $68,075 to benefit the Patient Navigator Program at the cancer center.

 

Despite the lagging economy, event chairman Sara Maloney confirmed, “This year was the most successful ever in the history of the event.

 

“We are delighted that the evening was so incredibly successful and thank our generous corporate sponsors, attendees and individual donors.”
