Advisory: Update on Sequim Elk Herd Movement - As of 5am, the herd has moved to the North side of Washington St., North of the Holiday Inn.

After more than a week of staying safely up on Bell Hill, the Sequim elk have once again moved down toward Highway 101. They crossed to the north side of the highway near the Simdars Road exit between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM last night.

As of 5:00 AM this morning, they were in an agricultural field on the north side of the old highway (Washington Street), immediately north of the Holiday Inn/Black Bear Diner, about 1,000 feet northwest of the Washington Street-Simdars Road intersection. There’s a chance the elk may try to cross back to the south side of Highway 101 as it starts getting light this morning.

So, be careful on the morning commute.
