The Sequim School District announces an open nomination process for students currently in third through seventh grades who may qualify for highly capable (HiCap) services.
Nomination forms are available at each school or online at the district website (www.sequim.k12.wa.us), as well as the individual school websites. Nomination forms must be received by Wednesday, Feb. 6. Due to time constraints, nominations received after Feb. 6 will not be considered. Students currently receiving HiCap services do not need to be nominated again and will continue to receive these services.
HiCap students, also referred to as gifted students, perform or show potential to perform at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared to other students of the same age, experience or background. These students may demonstrate exceptionally high intellectual ability, memory, creativity, curiosity and leadership ability. The identification procedures used by the Sequim School District have been developed to conform to state guidelines and are consistent with those used by other Washington school districts.
