Women farmers, producers, supporting spouses and aspiring farmers are invited to participate in an agriculture workshop offering inspirational speakers, practical advice on how to improve management skills and networking opportunities with other women entrepreneurs.

“Growing Your Successful Farm Business” meets from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, with the keynote address broadcast to 21 different locations throughout the state, including the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center, 905 W. Ninth St., Port Angeles.

Keynote speaker Trini Campbell of Riverdog Farm in California shares her experience from her beginnings as a sharecropper to owner of a 500-acre organic farm.

A workshop led by a financial expert in each location helps producers become better financially prepared to take advantage of an opportunity to grow an operation and to survive a downturn in the economy.

A panel of local producers at each site will talk about their risks and challenges with farming, including how they use their financial tools to manage risk.

Registration for the conference is $25 and includes lunch and a copy of the book “Farmer Jane: Women Changing the Way We Eat.”

Register by Feb. 21 online at www.womeninag.wsu.edu or contact Margaret Viebrock at 509-745-8531 or viebrock@wsu.edu. Locally, call Clea Rome at Clallam County Extension, 417-2280, to register.

The conference is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the WSU Extension Western Center for Risk Management Education.
