All hail, Queen Torrie McIntyre!

McIntyre, 17, was crowned during a Princess Tea and Coronation held at the Clallam County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 16.

The princesses are Lily Paulsen, 17; Naomi Gish, 16; and Grace Koenigsaecker, 17.

More than 200 attended the event, which featured all manner of princes and princesses, including a bevy of Disney-inspired royals who were on hand to entertain and inspire the dozens of young boys and girls attending the tea.

“It was the biggest one that Laurie (Davies) and I have done together,” said event co-chairman Christine Paulsen.

For the next year, the four girls — who all hail from Sequim — will be busy with their royal duties.

“Right now we’re gearing up for parade season,” Paulsen said.

The four will help prepare the float they will ride upon in seven parades in upcoming months, including the Sequim Irrigation Festival parade. They also will make appearances during Joyce Daze, the Marysville Strawberry Festival parade and Whaling Days in Silverdale.

In cooperation with the Sequim Noon Rotary Club, the girls also will play a role in Sequim’s July 4 centennial celebrations.

And of course they’ll be on hand throughout the county fair, which this year will be held from Aug. 15-18.

Their duties include judging several costume contests and participating in the opening ceremonies.

It isn’t all fun and games: The four also will participate in the annual “Relay for Life” fundraiser which will be held in June at the fairgrounds. The American Cancer Society event raises money to support those who are fighting cancer.

Paulsen said, “We appreciate everybody that came to the tea.” She noted the event helped raise funds for the organization’s activities and also provides the scholarships that are awarded to the court.The queen receives a $500 scholarship and the three princesses each win a $400 scholarship.

Paulsen also thanked the many volunteers. “We couldn’t do it without them,” she said.
