Ralph Lovely and Roxy Frogge, owner and general manager, respectively, of Sequim’s Fresh Seafood Restaurant, are hosting a fundraiser for The Sequim Guild for Seattle Children’s Hospital. On Wednesday, April 17, for one day only, the restaurant is sponsoring Dine Out for Kids, with a portion of the revenues designated for the guild.
Lovely said he wants his new restaurant to “be a vital part of the community and we want to help if and when we can.”
Lovely, a former missionary to Cameroon, said while he’s pleased to help, his first aim for Sequim’s Fresh Seafood restaurant is — and must be — to maintain a profit.
“While a portion of our revenue is being paid out for this worthy cause, we are hoping to compensate by having a large turnout and creating great, loyal return customers,” he said.
He sees it as a win-win for his new business and for children in need of medical care.
Cinda O’Dell, president of the guild, said, “Sequim is a generous, service-oriented community — numerous organizations exist to make life better for people and businesses are always happy to help as they feel they can.”
Sequim’s Fresh Seafood Restaurant is at 540 W. Washington St., at the eastern corner of the Safeway Shopping Center and just west of Rite-Aid. Restaurant hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
In anticipation of a big crowd, Frogge is asking customers to make their reservations as early as possible — no later than Tuesday, April 16 — by calling 681-0664. “Although we do not usually require reservations, in this case, they are important,” she said.
All of the money raised goes to Seattle Children’s Hospital to pay for children’s care when their families are unable to do so. O’Dell noted, “Many children from our community are treated at Seattle Children’s and the amount of money it costs just to take care of the children from this area alone is almost unbelievable.”
